NOVEMBER 11, 2018, the USA celebrates the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice ending WWI. Armistice Day became “Veterans Day” in 1954.

The Bend Veterans Day Parade, second largest west of the Mississippi, starts promptly at 11:00 AM at Bend Heroes Memorial. Pearl Harbor Survivor Dick Higgins, US Navy, will be the Grand Marshall and WWII Veterans will be honored.

The Bend Heroes Foundation will install 200 USA flags at Bend Heroes Memorial, on Veterans Memorial Bridge and downtown Bend beginning at 7:00 AM on Nov. 11. Traditionally, American Legion Post 4, Bend Band of Brothers and 1/82 Cavalry along with other patriots install the flags.

But we can always use more help! If you would like to help set up the USA flags, be at Bend Heroes Memorial at 7:00 AM this SUNDAY, Nov. 11. Please spread the word and invite families and friends to help honor our Veterans.
